Suspect wanted for fatal shooting in Wagener

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect following a shooting that left one person dead.

According to authorities, officers responded to a shooting on Jeffcoat Road in Wagener, South Carolina around 7:30 p.m

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they found the male victim with a gunshot wound to the head and, according to a witness, the shooter, described as a black male wearing a white tank top and black sweatpants, was outside the home fled before officers arrived on scene.

According to authorities, the victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition by Aiken County EMS and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital for emergency treatment.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are currently conducting a search for the suspect in the area of ​​Jeffcoat Road on the edge of the Wagener city limits, and the crime scene and search area are currently active by law enforcement.

At this time, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect’s identity is unknown.
