Unstable weekend with rain and thunderstorms, especially on Saturday

TONIGHT AND THIS WEEKEND:

The evening will be pleasant and dry in Nashville and the eastern areas. Meanwhile, clouds will thicken along the Tennessee River and showers will develop.

The rain will move slowly eastward, eventually reaching the I-65 corridor (Nashville) around 2-3 a.m. and staying there for the rest of the night.

A First weather warning day was issued for Saturday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms will be possible early Saturday. Expect temporary heavy downpours. This rain shield will move eastward during the afternoon, allowing for a few sunny stretches. Particularly along and west of I-65, one or two storms could become strong during the afternoon, producing isolated damaging wind gusts. The chance of hail (except pea- to dime-sized) and tornadoes appears very low. High: 74.

There will be scattered rain through Saturday evening. A little rain will continue through Sunday morning. Low: 65.

A few showers and thunderstorms are also likely Sunday afternoon as humidity increases. There will likely be a little more sunshine on Sunday compared to Saturday. High: 82.
