Rape: Government student raped by acquaintance | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana rural police have booked a person for allegedly raping a girl student after he offered to give her a ride in his car. The accused belongs to the same village as the girl. The rape survivor told police that she was pursuing a BA from a government university. She reported that when she was waiting at the bus stop in her village to take a bus to her college, the accused came there in his car and asked her to sit in the car. She sat in the car due to her acquaintance with the accused, she said, adding that instead of heading towards the college, the accused took the vehicle towards Ludhiana. When they reached Ludhiana, the accused took her to a hotel room and raped her, she alleged, after which the accused dropped her at the previous spot. The complainant said that when she arrived home, she fell ill and developed stomach pain, following which she commented on the incident to her mother. Police have booked the accused under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. Police said the accused was at large and raids were being conducted to arrest him.
