Masked men rob and drag woman in attempted carjacking on I-84 in Vernon: Police – NBC Connecticut

State police have arrested two men accused of attacking a woman on Interstate 84 in Vernon Thursday night, dragging her away from her vehicle and attempting to steal her Porsche.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., State Police received several 911 calls reporting an altercation between two men and a woman on I-84 East Vernon.

Callers said a gray Porsche SUV was involved, traveling eastbound on Exit 67.

Troopers found the SUV on I-84 in Tolland and stopped the driver near Exit 69.

The woman driving told them that a small red vehicle was following closely behind her. She pulled over to the right to let the driver pass, but the driver also pulled over to the right.

According to state police, she then turned off the engine, grabbed her keys and purse, got out of her car and walked to the side of the road.

Two masked men then got out of the red car and confronted them. One of them accused her of causing a collision with them and then attacked her, according to state police.

The victim said the men grabbed her wrist, threw her to the ground and dragged her away from her vehicle. They then jumped into their SUV and tried to drive away, but she had the ignition keys so they were unable to do so.

At that point, they got out of their SUV and tried to steal her purse, but she resisted and they dragged her back to their vehicle and forced her inside, state police said.

Several people who witnessed the incident stopped and the victim ran towards them after she managed to free herself.

Both men then ran away, but were reported by a witness to Vernon police, who took them into custody on South Frontage Road, state police said.

The suspects, a 21-year-old man from Boston and a 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania, were arrested on various charges and bail for one of them was set at $1 million, while bail for the other was set at $750,000.

They must appear in court on Friday.
