Body found in Beaumont linked to Houston murder

Houston detectives told Beaumont officers they believe the car is connected to a murder that occurred Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Houston.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont police are investigating after officers discovered the body of a man who may have been a “person of interest” in a murder in Houston over the weekend.

Beaumont police were called by Houston police detectives around 11:40 a.m. and asked to check for an abandoned car in the area, according to a police news release.

They had “pinged” the car and were able to send Beaumont officers to the area where they believed the car would be located, police said.

Houston detectives told Beaumont officers they believed the car was connected to a murder that occurred on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Houston, according to the release.

When Beaumont officers arrived at the car’s location outside a club in the 2500 block of Interstate 10 East, they found the body of a man inside. the car, police said.

Houston detectives believe the man could be someone they were looking for as a “person of interest” in Sunday’s murder.

They are now headed to Beaumont and will work with Beaumont detectives on the investigation, police said.

Police say surveillance videos from area businesses have been helpful in the investigation so far.
