BC nurse suspended for incorrect timesheets

A nurse in British Columbia has had her registration temporarily suspended after she was found to have submitted timesheets and been paid for hours she never worked.

According to a summary of a consent order posted online this week by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, Kennedy Baker’s nursing registration will be suspended for six months.

A summary of the consent agreement explained the incidents that occurred between September and December 2022. Baker, who works in Victoria, submitted the timesheets and forged “the authorizing nurse’s name and signature on some of her timesheets,” BCCNM said in its summary released this week.

“As a result, the registrant received approximately $23,262.00 for hours not worked,” BCCNM said.

In addition to her suspension, Baker must complete remedial courses on professional responsibility, accountability and ethics.

The investigative committee that approved the consent agreement between BCCNM and Baker said it was “satisfied that the terms protect the public.”
