First weather warning: Yellow alert this afternoon with localized thunderstorms

ROCHESTER, NY – A yellow warning with thunderstorms and rain is in effect through the evening. These storms are not expected to be severe, but they will definitely be an inconvenience if you have outdoor plans, a golf league, or children’s sports planned today. The heaviest downpours produce light lightning. So if you hear thunder, you should go indoors. During rainfall, local traffic jams may form on the roads. With the loss of daytime heating, storms will ease, meaning activity will taper off after 7 p.m

We will see a few more showers, especially in the first half of Tuesday night, along with mostly cloudy skies and a muggy and mild night. There will be some showers again on Wednesday, but we will have less instability so thunderstorms are less likely. We should see a dry start followed by increasing rain chances throughout the afternoon. Thursday looks mostly dry! We will see some sunshine and temperatures in the lower 70s, along with dry weather starting Friday. However, we will likely see more rain (and possibly some thunderstorms) later Friday afternoon and evening. This unsettled weather will continue into the start of the weekend. This means there will be occasional showers on Saturday, but hopefully they will dry out on Sunday.

The somewhat wet pattern will continue through at least the first half of next week, with some further scattered rainfall, but no washouts are forecast. Temperatures will remain at or slightly above average, keeping us in the upper 60s to mid 70s for most of next week.
