Incident drill at Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and other state, county and city agencies will conduct a simulated emergency at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Station in Red Wing, Minnesota, on Tuesday.

The annual exercise tests the capabilities of federal, state and local authorities in the event of an incident at the power plant, according to a news release from the Department of Public Safety.

People near the Prairie Island nuclear power plant in Dakota and Goodhue counties may notice the presence of emergency responders in the area, but there is no reason to alert residents, officials said.
