Stefan Pfeiffer killed in high-speed car accident (Pasadena, CA)

Stefan Pfeiffer, Esrom Fessemaye and Mohed Samuel die in a high-speed car accident at Foothill Boulevard and Vista Avenue

PASADENA, CA (May 13, 2024) — Stefan Pfeiffer and two others died in a high-speed car crash on Foothill Boulevard at Vista Avenue.

According to Pasadena police, the fatal accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, 22-year-old Mohed Samuel drove a Tesla Model 3 at twice the speed limit of 35 miles per hour. The Tesla then ran a red light, hit a curb, flew into the air and finally crashed into a light pole, a power pole and a building. Three people were ejected.

Paramedics responded shortly afterwards and took three patients to a hospital, including Samuel’s sister, who died at the scene. In addition, 20-year-old Stefan Michael Pfeiffer – a student at Pasadena City College – and Esrom Fessemaye died from their injuries.

After the fatal incident, Pasadena police said speed played a role in the crash. However, they still need to determine whether impairment played a role and whether the Tesla’s Autopilot feature was activated.
