Rudy Giuliani suspended without pay over ‘stolen election’ rant

Rudy Giuliani is fighting back against WABC Radio after he was suspended without pay for making claims about the 2020 election.

“WABC Radio just TERMINATED me because I refused to give in to their demand that I stop talking about the 2020 US presidential election,” Giuliani wrote in one Post on X That prompted supporters to call WABC and demand he be back on the air.

Giuliani, a former New York City mayor who was once a lawyer for former President Donald Trump, was instrumental in the numerous lawsuits filed after the 2020 election alleging that inappropriate behavior at various levels contributed to Trump’s defeat against President Joe Biden. None of the lawsuits were successful.

On Thursday he took up the topic again. According to the New York Post, radio station owner John Catsimatidis accused Giuliani of going on a “stolen election” tirade and suspended him without pay.

“He did it to himself,” Catsimatidis said Friday.

“I thought he was a great mayor of the city of New York, so I always try to support him. But you can’t cross the line.”

Catsimatidis said the channel’s policy was “not to claim, suggest or imply that the election results are invalid.”

Catsimatidis said he and Giuliani had dueled over the issue, with Catsimatidis telling Giuliani that he was “prohibited from engaging in conversations related to the 2020 presidential election.”

The Post wrote that Giuliani responded with a text message: “Please understand that I am disregarding every instruction given in this letter.”

Catsimatidis then replied: “I have to remove you from the network with immediate effect.”

Giuliani said he was unaware of the politics Catsimatidis was referring to and said he had been talking about the election on television for the past three years.

“They don’t want me to say it was stolen, they don’t want me to even talk about the election. It’s so wide,” he said.

“I am being told here to promise that I will not participate in any conversations related to the 2020 presidential election,” he said, adding that only someone he called a liar could make such a promise.

“It’s a blow for me. Absolutely,” he said of the deletion.

Giuliani, who was hailed as “America’s mayor” after the Sept. 11 attacks, said he makes $15,000 a month from WABC, money he needs to pay legal fees for pending election cases in Georgia and Arizona.

Giuliani, who filed for bankruptcy in December, also faces civil lawsuits from voting system companies Dominion and Smartmatic.
