Sheriff: One in custody after gun incident outside Viroqua | Crime and courts

VIROQUA, Wis. (WXOW) – The Vernon County Sheriff says one person is in custody following an incident Monday morning near Viroqua.

Sheriff Roy Torgerson said deputies and other agencies were dispatched to a residence on West Smith Road in the town of Viroqua around 11:15 a.m. The location is between Viroqua and Westby.

He said the incident involved a firearm.

The sheriff’s statement said: “Our team worked efficiently and effectively to bring the situation under control. One person is in custody, but the investigation is still in its early stages. There is no threat to the community.”

The statement concluded that further details about the incident would be released at a later date.
