Man arrested for impersonating a police officer

A 42-year-old Chicago man was arrested for impersonating a police officer in the 400 block of Madison Street. The arrest occurred around 1:40 a.m. May 5 in the 100 block of Madison Street.

Theft of motor vehicles

Someone stole a Chicago resident’s black 2018 Nissan Maxima in the 0-100 block of Erie Street on May 2. The estimated loss is $12,000.

Damage to property

Someone, possibly with a large rock, broke the double-pane window of the door of M&M Property Management at 506 Wesley Ave. between April 29 and 30. struck. The estimated damage is $1,500.
Someone broke the windshield of two 2023 Mazda models and the windshield of their 2014 Toyota Prius. The incident occurred May 2 in the 0-100 block of Lake Street. The estimated damage is $1,400.

Retail theft/disorderly conduct

A woman stole a bottle of champagne and clothing items from Target at 1129 Lake St. on May 2. She also threatened an employee with bodily harm. The estimated loss is unknown.

Burglary of motor vehicle

On April 30, someone broke into a Naperville resident’s 2012 Honda in the 1000 block of Lake Street. The person stole a bag containing jewelry, the estimated damage is $1,300.

Arrests

A 43-year-old Oak Park man was arrested on April 29 for trespassing at the Oak Park Public Library at 834 Lake Street.
A 20-year-old Zion man was arrested May 1 for aggravated assault on an Oak Park resident in Zion.
A 37-year-old Oak Park woman was arrested May 3 in the 200 block of South Maple Avenue for violating an order of protection against an Oak Park resident. She also had an active Cook County warrant for domestic battery.
A 37-year-old Maywood man was arrested May 5 in the 0-100 block of Erie Street on charges of assault and endangering a child.

These items come from Oak Park Police Department reports from April 30 to May 6 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. The individuals named in these reports have only been charged with a crime and the cases have not yet been adjudicated. We only report a suspect’s race when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and the police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect while asking the public for help in apprehension.
