Man killed in crash on I-59

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Fairfield man was killed in a car accident Friday evening, according to police.

The accident occurred at 11 p.m. on Interstate 59 near the 119 mile mark, about two miles north of Fairfield.

Kelvin Matthews, 46, was taken to UAB Hospital after his car left the road and struck a tree. Mathews died from his injuries Saturday morning.
