Wagashi Pop Up Day by Oyatsu Aoi — Japan-American Society of Houston

Treat yourself every month for Houston Chronicle Underlines wagashi maker Oyatsu AoiIt is Wagashi Arise Day at the JASH office. This month will once again be marked by a special collaboration with Authentic Japanese Sugar and Wheat Bakery.

The following traditional Japanese treats will be available for purchase by Oyatsu Aoi during the event:

  • Kashiwa Mochi (One (1) mochi filled with sweet red bean paste wrapped in an oak leaf and one (1) mochi filled with savory miso bean paste wrapped in an oak leaf)

  • Cooked Yomogi Mochi (Baked Japanese mugwort mochi)

  • Ichigo Daifuku (Fresh strawberry with mochi and sweet red bean paste)

  • Ichigo Dango (Strawberry Rice Dumplings on a Skewer)

  • Warabi Mochi (Tapioca and warabi mochi covered with soy powder and brown sugar syrup)
