Florence County deputy fired amid domestic violence investigation

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A deputy sheriff in Pee Dee is out of a job as state agents launch a domestic violence investigation.

Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye said he fired Deputy Treyvon Sellers on Friday due to a domestic violence investigation at his Darlington County home.

The South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the incident.

At the time of this writing, Sellers has not yet been charged in this case.

At the time of his firing, Sellers was on leave following his involvement in a fatal police-involved shooting in May, which is also being investigated by SLED.

Joye noted that the fatal shooting was not the reason for Sellers’ firing. He reiterated that it was because of the domestic violence investigation and said Sellers’ conduct was “unbefitting” a Florence County deputy.
