Deaths of two inmates at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown under investigation – NBC Connecticut

Last weekend, two inmates died in a Newtown prison; their deaths are currently under investigation.

Officers responded to Garner Correctional Institution on reports of unresponsive inmates at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Friday, July 19, and at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 21.

Life-saving measures were performed on both occupants. Both occupants were later pronounced dead.

The state police did not release any details about the cause of death.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
