Consumer warning issued for Pittsburgh restaurant

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for No. 1 Sushi on Market Street downtown.

During an inspection on Thursday, several coolers were found to be malfunctioning and their cooling capacity was insufficient for safe operation.

The inspector also found that the front cooler was turned off each night and then refilled in the morning before the temperature reached 41 degrees or less.

Packaged salmon, romaine lettuce and white fish were found to have a temperature of over 45 degrees and had to be disposed of.

The temperature of two household refrigerators in the kitchen and in the basement was 57 and 52 degrees respectively.

The restaurant also does not have a public toilet.

A restaurant with a consumer warning sign may operate temporarily for a maximum of 10 days. A further inspection will be conducted either before the expiration of the temporary period at the request of the restaurant owner or on the tenth day.
