Report: Resident with ‘history of sexually aggressive behavior’ charged with child abuse at Abilene State Supported Living Center | KTAB

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A resident with “a history of sexually aggressive behavior” is accused of assaulting a child at the Abilene State Supported Living Center.

Paul Martinez was taken into custody Saturday on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child in connection with an incident in November 2023.

According to court documents, a behavioral trainer at the Abilene State Supported Living Center noticed a child under the age of 14 running around with Martinez, a roommate.

The documents state that the coach told the child to leave because Martinez “had a
History of sexually aggressive behavior.”

According to documents, the missing child was found at Martinez’s home later that day.

According to the documents, the child told staff when they returned him to his dorm that Martinez had given him a sex toy.

This toy was found on the child during a subsequent examination and, according to documents, the child claimed that Martinez used it to sexually abuse her.

The child described additional instances in which he claimed to have been sexually abused by Martinez during a SANE examination.

During their investigation, Abilene detectives pulled records from the Abilene State Supported Living Center that showed that “Paul Martinez had been reprimanded two weeks earlier for showing his sex toys to other underage residents of the center.”

Martinez remains in jail on $30,000 bail.

KTAB and KRBC have contacted the Abilene State Supported Living Center for comment.
