Oklahoma City police investigate murder after man was shot in his home

JONATHAN. THANK YOU SO MUCH. NOW ON TO THE BREAKING NEWS FROM OVERNIGHT. A CALL TO POLICE ABOUT A SHOOTING TURNS OUT TO BE FATAL. AND NOW THEY’RE LOOKING FOR WITNESSES. FOR SOME ANSWERS. KOCO COLBY TERRELL IS LIVE WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION. SO, SHELBY, OKC POLICE CLEARED THE CRIME SCENE THIS MORNING AROUND 5 AM AFTER INVESTIGATING ALL NIGHT. THEY RESPONDED TO A CALL OF A SHOOTING AROUND A HOUSE NEAR 62ND STREET AND LINDSAY AVENUE IN SOUTH OKC. NOW THEY ARE INVESTIGATING A MURDER BUT THEY DON’T YET KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED AND HAVE INVESTIGATORS IN PLACE. WE’VE BEEN TOLD THE VICTIM IS AN ADULT MALE BUT HOW MANY TIMES HE WAS SHOT AND WHERE IS STILL UNCLEAR. LOCAL POLICE SAY THEY FOUND A BODY IN THE HOUSE WHEN THEY ARRIVED. THE PERSON WAS DECIDED DEAD HERE AT THE SCENE AND WE HAVE ONE PERSON IN CUSTODY AT THIS TIME. A murder investigation is ongoing after a man was shot and killed in a southeast Oklahoma City neighborhood on Sunday evening.

At around 10 p.m., police responded to a reported shooting at a home near Southeast 62nd Street and Lindsay Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside the home.

“The offender was pronounced dead at the scene and we currently have one person in custody,” said Lt. Jeff Cooper.

Police have not released the victim’s identity; they only say he is a man. They also have not said how many times or where he was shot.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
