Florida Senator demands answers on Trump assassination investigation

Florida Senator Rick Scott has sent a letter to President Joe Biden demanding answers, transparency and accountability from his administration, and in particular from US Secret Service (USSS) Director Kimberly Cheatle, in the investigation into the assassination attempt on President Donald J. Trump, the murder of innocent American Corey Comperatore, and the serious injury of others.

The Republican senator from Florida said he has heard questions from Floridians and people across America about the status of the federal government’s investigation.

“It is imperative that the American people know that the U.S. government will answer questions and hold people accountable for the failures that led to this entirely preventable tragedy,” wrote U.S. Senator Rick Scott.

“Now is the time for absolute transparency and accountability.”

This letter followed a briefing by Senator Scott and his Senate colleagues from the USSS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Senator called for a daily public press conference by FBI Director Christopher Wray, USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to update the American people and answer questions about what happened, who is held accountable, and how we can ensure this never happens again.

“It is a miracle that President Trump is alive and well, but absolutely inexcusable that the deranged would-be assassin had a direct line of sight to the former President and leading presidential candidate of the United States,” the Republican senator wrote to the Democratic president.
