Foreign workers arrested by the Ministry of Interior for falsifying official identity documents

The Internal Security Agency (ISA) announced last Monday (July 15) that it had arrested and handed over to the judiciary several foreign workers for falsifying official personal documents (national ID numbers).

Those arrested are accused of forging and using official Libyan documents such as marriage contracts, identity cards, passports, driving licenses and bank cards.

They are accused of exploiting the forged documents to obtain numerous advantages and using them for numerous and varied purposes, including marrying Libyan citizens. According to the ISA, this sometimes gave the defendants more advantages than Libyan citizens.

According to the ISA, this resulted in the defendants gaining control of some vital and commercial facilities and infiltrating some sectors, unnoticed due to the ignorance, inaction and lack of responsibility of the Libyan authorities concerned.

The ISA stated that these arrests fell within the scope of its duties and responsibilities, which require protecting the security of Libya from all threats to its national, political, economic and social security.
