Hong Kong police charge off-duty officer with alleged rape of 21-year-old woman

Hong Kong police have arrested and charged an off-duty officer in connection with the alleged rape of a 21-year-old woman.

Police said officers began their investigation after the woman reported the incident to police around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, saying she had been raped in an apartment.

“Following initial investigations, police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of rape in Tai Po on the same day,” police said on Thursday.

According to police, the suspect is an off-duty police officer.

The man was accused of rape and was due to appear before the Fanling Court on Friday morning.

Detectives from the New Territories North Regional Crime Unit are investigating the case.

“The police attach great importance to the conduct of its officers and any violations of the law by its employees will neither be tolerated nor condoned. They will be punished strictly and seriously,” the police stressed.
