King woman found dead on roadside

The cause of death is still being investigated, MPs said.

KING, NC — According to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was found dead in King around 6:31 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16.

Officers were called to the 1600 block of North Friendship Road for a report of a body found.

Before officers arrived, firefighters were on the scene and confirmed the body was dead.

According to fire officials, a passerby said he saw the body lying on the side of the road and called 911.

The body was identified as Alison Willard, 44, of King.

Deputies asked the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NC SBI) for assistance in the investigation.

The cause of death is still being investigated, MPs said.
