A severe thunderstorm watch is issued for counties north of the Houston area

HOUSTON – The National Weather Service in Galveston has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties north of the Houston metro area.

The following counties are under surveillance: Grimes, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker County.

The surveillance is in effect until Friday midnight.

A severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in the watch area.
