Heart attack on the Lawn Lake Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park – Estes Park Trail-Gazette

This morning, Monday, July 15, park rangers were notified via satellite communication device that an 80-year-old female hiker was found unconscious by other hikers on the Lawn Lake Trail, approximately 5 miles from the trailhead. The hikers provided life-saving aid to the woman by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Members of the Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue Team arrived on scene to provide further assistance. Park rangers were assisted by a Colorado Army National Guard helicopter from Buckley Space Force Base to perform a hoist to free the woman. The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group assisted with the helicopter hoists.

The woman was taken to the Med Evac rescue helicopter in Upper Beaver Meadows and flown for further emergency care.
