According to police, a Vacaville police officer was hit and killed by a car during a traffic stop

VACAVILLE, Calif. (KGO) – An on-duty police officer died Thursday morning in Vacaville after his car became stuck, police said.

The officer was identified as Vacaville police Officer Matthew Bowen.

The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when Bowen was conducting a traffic stop.

A video from the scene of the accident shows a badly damaged Vacaville Police Department motorcycle.

There is no information on whether anyone else was injured.

The intersection was closed and the CHP closed one of the ramps to Interstate 80.

Officer Bowen had been with the Vacaville Police Department since 2023.
