1 dead in investigation into Tampa death

TAMPA, Fla. – A death investigation is underway after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced a person was found dead in Tampa.

Officers said they received a call around 5:43 p.m. that someone had been shot in the area between North Cameron Avenue and West Henry Avenue.

When authorities arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

“Following this tragic loss of life, our detectives are working tirelessly to uncover the events that led to this fatal shooting,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “We urge anyone with information about the circumstances leading to this person’s death to contact our investigators immediately.”

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
