Pond shooting incident investigated by Manassas Police Department

MANASSAS, VA – Police are investigating a shooting incident in Manassas on Thursday, which resulted in a nearby school being placed under shelter-in-place status.

Manassas City Police responded to Dean Park Lane on Thursday around 1:45 p.m. It was reported to police that someone had fired a gun into a pond behind Dean Park Lane. No injuries were reported.

Jennie Dean Elementary School was placed in shelter-in-place status as a precaution, but resumed regular activities and will be dismissed in a timely manner.

Police say they have isolated the incident and there is currently no danger to the public. Police are continuing to investigate and are using drones and a heavy police presence in the area.
