Mass shooting at street festival in Detroit leaves two dead and 19 injured

Two people are said to have been killed and 19 injured in a mass shooting at a street festival in east Detroit on Sunday morning, including the 22-year-old suspected shooter, who is in custody for a gunshot wound.

The unidentified suspect – who police say was shot in the left leg during the shootout – opened fire near Reno Street and Rossini Drive around 2:25 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Click On Detroit.

Police have not yet identified the victims.

However, they told the news agency that a 20-year-old woman died at the scene of the accident from a gunshot wound to the head and a 21-year-old man was pronounced dead in hospital after being shot in the back.

All victims were between 17 and 28 years old.
