Danville man arrested after short chase

July 5 – A Danville man was arrested after leading police on a short chase.

On Monday, July 1, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Danville Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle at the corner of South Gilbert and Second Streets after an officer witnessed a suspected traffic violation.

According to police, the driver of the car, later identified as Bryce Ross, 39, of Danville, initially refused to stop but eventually obeyed orders from officers in the area of ​​Ninth Street and Highland Park Boulevard and pulled into a parking lot.

During the stop and investigation, police found evidence that led to Ross’s arrest. He was charged with felony charges including use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, fleeing and attempting to elude an officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, driving while license is suspended/revoked, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

At a detention hearing on July 3, Ross’s preliminary release was denied.
