Tashaun Gipson suspended for 6 games

Former 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson has been suspended for the first six games of the 2024 season, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston.

It’s unclear why Gipson, who spent the last two seasons as the 49ers’ starting free safety, was suspended. He is currently a free agent and his suspension could deter teams from signing the soon-to-be 34-year-old.

Gipson started all 33 games for the 49ers over the past two seasons, collecting six interceptions, 11 pass defenses and 1.5 sacks. Given the overcrowding in the safety room in San Francisco, a reunion seemed unlikely. Now it’s probably off the table altogether.
