Former Patriots RB takes job with Houston Texans

Former New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen has found his way back to the NFL, but he will no longer be catching passes out of the backfield.

According to KPRC2’s Aaron WilsonVereen has accepted a role in the Houston Texans front office as a player personnel assistant.

Vereen, 35, was the Patriots’ second-round draft pick out of California in 2011. He played four seasons in New England, helping them win Super Bowl 49 against the Seattle Seahawks.

After his time with the Patriots ended, Vereen spent three seasons with the New York Giants (2014-17) and attempted to catch up with the New Orleans Saints for one final year (2018), but he never made it to the team. List of 53 players.

In Houston, Vereen will reunite with Nick Caserio, who was New England’s director of player personnel during Vereen’s tenure with the team.
