Man is accused of leading New Hampshire State Police on a high-speed chase

A Maine man is accused of leading New Hampshire State Police on a high-speed chase. State Police said it all started around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday when they received a report of a vehicle fleeing police at a high rate of speed on Route 101 eastbound in Epping. Minutes later, a police officer said he observed the silver 2005 Honda Accord traveling more than 120 miles per hour near Exit 10 in Exeter. The officer attempted to stop the car, but police said it continued eastbound at a high rate of speed. Additional troopers were able to use tire deflation devices at the intersection of Route 101 and Interstate 95 and successfully deflate two zip ties on the car. Despite the tires being deflated, troopers said the chase continued north on I-95. The car eventually stopped in North Hampton. State police said the driver, Bert Clement, 28, of South Portland, Maine, was taken into custody without further incident. Clement was arrested on charges including reckless driving and driving under the influence. He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 4. According to state police, Epping police have also charged Clement in connection with that agency’s first prosecution.
