Griffith fireworks accident injures 7 – NBC Chicago

A disturbance of unknown magnitude occurred at a private fireworks display in northwest Indiana on Saturday evening, injuring seven people and damaging at least four homes, police said.

At around 9:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to a disturbance in the 900 block of North Arbogast Street with numerous injuries as a result of a fireworks accident, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that seven people were injured and four houses were damaged, police said.

Ten vehicles were also damaged in the incident.

The condition of the victims was unknown as of Sunday afternoon. Police determined that “a fireworks malfunction occurred during a private fireworks show at the residence.”
