FRSC revokes driving licences of reckless drivers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will revoke the driving licenses of chronic traffic offenders and reckless drivers.

Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed, speaking in Abuja on Friday, discussed the results of the Eid-el-Kabir 2024 special patrol operations conducted from June 14 to 23.

Malam Mohammed stressed the importance of collaboration with stakeholders in achieving the successes achieved during this period.

Key measures included strengthening the inter-agency joint task force to combat problems caused by trailer drivers and enforcing regulations against the use of trailers to transport people.

In addition, the FRSC intensified public education, worked with the media and conducted nationwide parking advocacy campaigns.

In addition, strategic routes were identified and personnel and resources were deployed effectively.

The Corps worked with various transport unions, security agencies, the State Transport Authority and the FCT Traffic Authority to ensure comprehensive participation in safety on the highways.

To improve traffic law enforcement, the FRSC has begun prosecuting offenders through mobile judicial operations in all states and the FCT.

Malam Mohammed warned that stricter measures would be taken in case of violations, including suspension and revocation of the national driving license.

These efforts are part of the FRSC’s strategy to reduce road accidents, fatalities and injuries on highways.
