3 police officers bitten, 1 dog dead, 1 suspect in custody

LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – A dog is dead, three police officers are being treated for dog bites and a suspect was arrested after a chase.

6 News was on scene after the incident Friday afternoon near Stabler and Dunlap Streets in Lansing.


Lansing police said their Violent Crime Impact Team had previously attempted to stop a traffic offender with a warrant, but the suspect resisted arrest and fled.

Police pursued the suspect to the 100 block of Dunlap Street, where a dog appeared and bit the three officers.

The police shot the dog. The police officers’ injuries have been treated in hospital since 2 p.m. Friday and the suspect is now in custody.

Apart from the three police officers, no other people were injured.
