The health advisory was completely lifted following the sewage spill at Lake Worth Beach in April

LAKE WORTH BEACH – The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has lifted the health advisory for all surface waters in Lake Worth Beach affected by the recent sewage spill near the intersection of the L-10 Canal and Florida Mango Road.

An AT&T contractor damaged a 36-inch subregional sanitation sewer line on Tuesday, April 12.

A health alert, a no-swimming order and a no-watering order were issued for several waterways until Lake Worth Beach Water Utilities crews and emergency contractors could repair the breach.

Recent laboratory testing coordinated with the city and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection concluded that water in these areas now meets surface water quality standards for fecal indicator bacteria, confirming that the public can resume water-related activities.

The original health alert was issued near the intersection of the L-10 Canal and Florida Mango, about a quarter-mile north of 10th Ave North in Lake Worth Beach. A week later, the warning for several bodies of water was partially lifted.
