Man from Troy allegedly raped a minor in Albany

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – A Troy resident is accused of raping a minor. According to court documents, Sakir Akkan threatened the 15-year-old girl with a metal bar while she was sitting in his car.

The alleged attack occurred in the early morning hours of May 14 near Old South Pearl Street and South Pearl Street. The victim, who is known to Albany police, was allegedly sitting in Akkan’s vehicle when he threatened to hit her with a metal bar if she didn’t get in the back seat. The defendant allegedly removed her clothes in the back seat and forced the teen to have sexual intercourse. The 15-year-old allegedly tried to push Akkan off herself and told him to stop, but was again threatened with the metal bar and the attack continued.

The court’s indictment lists Akkan as being between the ages of 20 and 21. He is being held in the Albany County Jail and will appear in Albany Municipal Court on Thursday afternoon.
