According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is a former local teacher.

DIXFIELD, Maine – A Wilton man is accused of sending sexually explicit photos to a teenage girl.

Robert L. Fanning, 39, was arrested June 14 and charged with lewd conduct and harassment by telephone or electronic device, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday.

On May 10, a 17-year-old reported receiving explicit images from Fanning, a former local teacher, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said investigators secured electronic evidence that led to Fanning’s arrest.

Fanning was taken to the Oxford County Jail, where his bail was set at $250, the maximum for a misdemeanor, according to the sheriff’s office. Fanning has since paid bail and has been released from the jail, the press release said.

Fanning’s bail conditions prohibit him from having any contact with anyone under the age of 18. According to the sheriff’s office, he is also prohibited from using a device with internet access.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on August 15 in the South Paris District Court, officials said.
