Man charged with robbery after alleged attack at Nashville gas station, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A 36-year-old man is accused of assaulting and robbing a person at a Shell gas station on Murfreesboro Pike, according to Metro Nashville Police.

According to the affidavit, the alleged incident occurred on June 8. MNPD officers said they drove to the gas station to fill up their patrol car when they were flagged down by an employee who told them a man was inside, bleeding. Officers were led inside, where a man was bleeding from a cut on his forehead, the affidavit states.

The employee identified Michael Grigsby as the suspect. The victim told officers that Grigsby asked him for money and he responded, “Get a job.” He said Grigsby responded, “No, you’re going to give me money,” and then attacked him, the affidavit states.

The victim also told police that he had $800 in his pocket that was no longer there, the affidavit states, and that he did not know Grigsby.

The officer’s report states that the victim’s injuries required 20 stitches at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Grigsby avoided speaking to officers by getting into a Mercedes sedan and driving away, the affidavit states. They later determined the car belonged to the victim. It was found later that night at the corner of Rosebank Avenue and Riverside Drive, about a half-mile from where Grigsby lived, the affidavit states.

Grigsby was arrested on June 24 and charged with aggravated robbery and driving without a license.
