One dead after car-motorcycle accident | Local news

GREENSBURG – A Rushville woman died from injuries sustained in a car-motorcycle crash late Thursday night on Ind. 3 north of the city.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, on Thursday, June 20, at approximately 10:26 p.m., Decatur County Communications received a call about an accident involving a car and a motorcycle near 5625 N Ind. 3.

When the rescue team arrived, they found two injured people, both of whom were riding motorcycles.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle, a 2006 Harley Davidson, was traveling north on Ind. 3, followed by a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The motorcycle slowed to turn east off the highway when it was struck from behind by the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet was driven by a 17-year-old male whose identity has not been released at the time of this writing. The Harley Davison was driven by Joshus P. Fields of Greensburg; his passenger was identified as Abby J. Collins of Rushville.

Both Fields and Collins were flown by Stat Flight to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Collins died at the hospital.

Assisting agencies included the Greensburg Police Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Clarksburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS and Indiana State Police.

Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
