Officers Brad Anderson, Caleb Lammers and Trevor Robbins were awarded the Sidney Police Department’s Life Saving Award for their heroic efforts on March 13, 2024, when officers responded to a stabbing attack. Officers Anderson and Robbins searched the apartment complex looking for additional victims/suspects before returning to the critically injured individual. Without hesitation, Officer Anderson applied a tourniquet, typically used for personal use, and stopped the profuse bleeding in the victim’s leg. Meanwhile, Officer Robbins began to check the victim for additional wounds that required immediate medical attention. At this point, two paramedics from the Sidney Fire and EMS Department arrived and worked with Officer Robbins to apply several chest seals to the individual’s upper body.

The officers responded to the scene despite the uncertainty of whether the blood could transmit disease and continued their work at the scene without calling for backup. It is only because of the quick actions and compassion of these officers that the injured person survived his injuries and is still alive today.
