What we know about Andrew Tate’s rape and sexual assault charges

Andrew Tate is facing further allegations of sexual offenses after he was served with civil lawsuit papers at his home in Romania.

Four women are filing a lawsuit against Tate in the U.K. Supreme Court after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided not to prosecute in 2019, their lawyers said.

They claim Tate raped and assaulted them and are seeking “compensation for the injuries they suffered as a result.”

Three of the British accusers were the subject of an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, which was closed in 2019.

These are the latest allegations against Tate.

A court in Romania ruled last month that a trial can begin in the influencer’s separate human trafficking case, in which he is also accused of rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

Tate, 37, is charged along with his 35-year-old brother Tristan Tate. The men were initially arrested near Bucharest in December 2022.

They will be extradited to the UK following trial in Romania after Bedfordshire Police obtained a European arrest warrant over other separate allegations of rape and human trafficking.

These allegations, which the two brothers “unequivocally deny,” date from 2012-2015.

What is Andrew Tate accused of in the UK?

Bedfordshire Police said it was cooperating with authorities in Romania as part of an investigation into the Tate brothers.

In a statement, Bedfordshire Police said: “As part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of rape and human trafficking, Bedfordshire Police has obtained a European arrest warrant for two men in their 30s.”

“We are cooperating with the authorities in Romania as part of this investigation and will provide an update in due course.

“We recognize this is a troubling issue and people may be affected by what they see in the news. Bedfordshire Police takes all reports of sexual offenses seriously and further support is available via our website or by calling 101.”

“Anyone with information about this particular investigation should call 101 and quote Operation Moonwalk.”

Meanwhile, lawyers for four British women confirmed on Wednesday that they would launch civil proceedings against Andrew Tate.

Law firm McCue Jury and Partners said in a statement: “Three of the women who filed the civil action told British police that Tate raped and physically assaulted them in 2014/2015.”

“Following a four-year investigation, Hertfordshire Police have referred the case to the CPS for prosecution. In 2019, the CPS decided not to prosecute.

“Despite additional evidence, the CPS has rejected the women’s recent requests to review its decision.”

A representative for the Tate brothers said they “unequivocally deny all allegations” and are “fully committed to contesting these allegations with unwavering resolve and determination.”

Tate’s representative said in an earlier statement: “This confusing resurgence of decades-long allegations has dismayed and deeply disturbed the Tate brothers.”

“They categorically deny all allegations and express their deep disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without any substantive new evidence.”

What other charges does Andrew Tate face in Romania?

The Tate brothers are accused of rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women in a separate case in Romania after they were arrested along with two Romanian women in the country’s capital in December 2022.

All four deny the allegations.

The suspects were in police custody from December 2022 to March 2023 and were then placed under house arrest. They were released from house arrest in August.

In January this year, Tate lost an appeal against a ruling that prevented him from leaving Romania. The case is still in preliminary stages and no trial date has been set.

Who is Andrew Tate?

Influencer and former kickboxer Tate describes himself as misogynistic and has previously been banned from social media platforms for expressing his misogynistic views and hate speech.

Tate, whose full name is Emory Andrew Tate III, currently has 8.9 million followers on X, formerly Twitter.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois in December 1986 and grew up in Luton – he has dual UK and US citizenship.

Tate’s rise to fame began when he was removed from TV show Big Brother in 2016 after a video emerged that appeared to show him attacking a woman. He said the video was “a total lie trying to make me look bad.”

Tate’s social media accounts featured numerous videos of him showing off his sports cars, private jets and yachts.

In an interview with a YouTuber, he said he was “absolutely misogynistic,” adding, “I’m a realist, and if you’re a realist, you’re a sexist.”

He was previously banned from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter, for which he was banned for saying women should “bear responsibility” for sexual assault. He has since been reinstated.

Who is Tristan Tate?

Tristan Tate, also a British and US citizen, works with his brother, with whom he runs webcam websites where female models in lingerie answer calls from paying customers.

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror in March 2022, Tristan said the deal was “all a big scam”.

The couple has also sold online courses that have been accused of teaching violence against women.

In December 2022, he was arrested in Romania along with his brother and two women and charged with rape, human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women.
