14-year-old Florida boy arrested for raping 91-year-old woman

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of beating and raping a 91-year-old woman in her central Florida home, authorities said Monday.

The shocking incident occurred in Reddick, a small town in Marion County, about 90 miles north of Orlando.

On June 9, around midnight, the victim was sleeping when she was “awakened to find a person creeping through her home,” officials said.

She was then beaten and sexually abused in what the Marion County Sheriff’s Office called a “cruel act of violence.”

The victim was seriously injured in the attack and suffered bruising to his arms, face and chest, local Fox affiliate WOFL reported.

After analyzing DNA evidence collected at the crime scene, MCSO detectives identified the suspect as a 14-year-old boy.

While speaking to investigators, the young suspect allegedly admitted to “illegally entering the victim’s home, beating the victim and then sexually assaulting her,” officials said.

The teenager was arrested on Monday for sexual assault and burglary and later transferred to the Florida State Juvenile Justice System.

“This type of unimaginable violence still shocks me even after all my years in law enforcement,” said Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods.

The teenager, who reportedly lives in the area and speaks frequently with the victim, could face adult charges, WESH reported.

He appeared in court in Ocala on Tuesday. His next court date is July 3.
