Netanyahu invites relatives of hostages killed in captivity to a meeting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited the families of those killed in Gaza during his captivity to his home, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.

The invitation came against the backdrop of fierce criticism of the Prime Minister for not accepting the invitation despite having met with the families of the rescued hostages.

The meeting is scheduled to take place this week.

Nissim Louk, Shani Louk’s father, said he would not attend the meeting.

“I was invited, but I said I didn’t want to participate because it had turned into a circus,” he said The Jerusalem Post.

“When there are funerals, when there are disasters, Netanyahu simply switches off. He doesn’t come and doesn’t take care of it,” Louk continued.

“When there are successes (…), he throws himself into them,” he noted, adding: “It has become a circus and I want to take part in circuses.”

Louk also said he plans to form a new political party that will be positioned on the political spectrum between the Likud and Ben-Gvir and Smotrich. “The time for change has come,” he said.

“The lawlessness in the country in all areas (…) must end,” he stressed.

The Hostage and Missing Persons Families Forum noted that Michel Nisenbaum’s niece, Ayala Harel, had been invited to the meeting.

The bodies of Louk and Nisenbaum were recovered from the Gaza Strip by the Israeli army in May.

Louk’s body was recovered alongside those of Itzik Gelernter and Amit Buskila.

Nisenbaum’s body was recovered along with those of Orion Hernandez Radoux and Hanan Yablonka. According to military intelligence, the three were murdered on October 7 and their bodies were subsequently taken to Gaza.
