Prominent lawyer drops rape-suspected real estate heirs Oren and Alon Alexander after more allegations emerge

A well-known South Florida attorney abruptly withdrew Monday from representing twin rape-accused real estate heirs Oren and Alon Alexander.

A well-placed source told The Washington Post that attorney Jim Ferraro’s decision to withdraw from the troubling Manhattan case was due at least in part to his personal ties to the 36-year-old millionaire brothers – not to mention the avalanche of additional allegations that came after two women sued the twins for alleged sexual assault.

The brothers’ new lawyer is Isabelle Kirshner of Clayman Rosenberg Kirshner & Linder in Manhattan.

Kirshner has navigated tricky legal waters in the past, most notably brokering a no-prison deal for notorious Manhattan gynecologist Robert Hadden, who was convicted of sex trafficking for luring patients across state lines to sexually abuse them.

According to the documents, the agreement to change attorneys in the Alexanders’ case was submitted to the Manhattan court on Monday.

Two women, Rebecca Mandel and Kate Whiteman, set the sordid saga in motion in March when they filed separate lawsuits against the Alexanders under New York State’s Adult Survivors Act, which temporarily lifts the statute of limitations on civil claims of sexual assault.

Mandel says in her lawsuit that she was 18 when the brothers took turns raping her in her Manhattan apartment in 2010. Whiteman says in her court filing that she was raped by the twins in a 2012 attack at a castle in the Hamptons on Long Island.

Shortly thereafter, almost 30 other women came forward with similar claims, according to the plaintiffs’ lawyer.

Ferraro did not respond to The Post’s requests for comment on his departure from the case.

However, he initially responded to the two women’s lawsuits by saying: “We are confident that this matter will be decided in their favor because we have a comprehensive collection of compelling evidence, including phone records, text messages, emails and other documents, the contents of which clearly refute these allegations.”

The lawyer’s ties to the Alexanders are deep, stretching back more than a decade when he first met Oren at a real estate deal in New York City. Their relationship eventually went beyond business.

The two are pictured partying together and Oren has spoken publicly about their close bond. In an interview with the Observer in 2009, he said: “I flew with Jim to Miami for a weekend. I flew with him to Martha’s Vineyard for a weekend. I flew with him to Aspen – that’s when the deal came about.”

Oren has already announced that he is stepping down from Official, a brokerage firm he founded with his brother Tal.

To further distance the company from the allegations against Oren, Nicole Oge and her partners Richard Jordan and Andrew Wachtfogel have announced that they are severing ties with Oren.

The company is currently in the process of removing it from the property.
