Flames engulf Houston Co. farm | WDHN

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Fire and emergency crews rushed to the scene of a farm fire in Houston County Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out shortly after noon in the 7000 block of County Road 95 in Gordon.


Homeowners tell WDHN the farmhouse that caught fire was abandoned at the rear of the property and no one was inside.

After nearly an hour of fighting the flames, teams managed to contain the fire, thus avoiding damage to the surrounding woods. However, the house was a total loss.

The cause of the fire has not been released.

Lucy Fire, Gordon Fire, Ashford Fire, Lovetown Fire and Cottonwood Fire responded to the scene.
