An incident involving a pressure vessel disrupts water supply to Magnolia Plantation customers

Customers of the Magnolia Plantation Water System were left without water Friday afternoon following a “catastrophic” incident at the water plant.

System officials announced that the water had been shut off due to “catastrophic damage to the pressure vessel.”

The system serves part of Vermilion, Iberia and Youngsville.

Photos online show the pressure vessel on its side. It looks like there may have been an explosion or fire there.

“We are working to restore water service as quickly as possible. Once water service is restored, a boil water order is mandatory,” a press release said.
