Family of accident victim donates organs of 33-year-old brain-dead patient

The family of a 33-year-old man who was declared brain dead at Government Stanley Hospital agreed to organ donation. His liver, kidneys, eyes, bones, skin and heart valves were donated for transplant.

According to a press release, he was a system operator from Manali and met with a road accident on May 5 in which he sustained serious head injuries. He was declared brain dead on May 7th.

After his family agreed for organ donation, his left kidney was sent to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, his liver to MIOT Hospital, his heart valves to MMM Hospital, his cornea to Egmore Eye Hospital, his skin to Government Kilpauk Medical College and handed over his right kidney to Government Stanley Hospital, the release said.
