New York woman allegedly stabbed 70-year-old father to death for sexual abuse

SOUTH OZONE PARK, Queens (PIX11) — A woman who allegedly stabbed her 70-year-old father to death in their Queens home claims the man sexually abused her as a child, authorities said.

According to NYPD Criminal Investigation Chief Joseph Kenny, Peter Cavak’s wife found her daughter on top of her bloodied husband in the bedroom of their 109th Avenue home in South Ozone Park around 7 a.m. on June 5.

“My husband was murdered,” the woman told police, Kenny said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Ana Cavak, 30, is accused of stabbing her father to death with a rectangular object. Police say she was heard screaming, “He’s trying to kill me,” before her mother stormed into the bedroom.

The suspect had recently filed a complaint claiming that her father sexually abused her when she was a minor, authorities said. The younger Cavak also told police that she had a sister who committed suicide due to similar abuse.

“When she was questioned, she said her father was a member of a cult and was violent,” Kenny said.

After the alleged attack, the daughter left the house and drove to New Jersey, where she was arrested at a rest stop the same day, police said.

According to the NYPD, the suspect is expected to be extradited to New York City on Wednesday to face murder charges.
